The World of fashion and continental feuilletons
A London monthly fashion magazine issued by Mr. Bell from 1824, carrying Paris and London dress reports, patterns and hand-coloured plates for middle- and upper-class women readers. The plates group three or four full-length figures in bell-shaped skirts with tiered flounces, gigot sleeves and shawls above rows of bonnet and coiffure studies, drawn in fine outline with pink, green and blue washes over cream paper, useful for period costume silhouettes, millinery shapes and soft tinted palettes.
