X-rays, how to produce and interpret them
A 1915 London manual by Harold Mowat, published by Henry Frowde, teaching doctors and radiographers how to make and read radiographs. The plates are halftone reproductions of early x-ray exposures: pale bone edges and rib arcs floating in grainy black fog, useful as soft-edged abstract grounds, ghosted anatomical silhouettes, or coarse-grain photographic texture.
