Z říše hvězd
Gustav Gruss's Z říše hvězd, a Czech popular astronomy written for general readers and students and issued in Prague by Bursík a Kohout in 1896. Illustrations mix coarse halftone plates — a shaded globe crossed by dotted meridians and lettered arrows, a comet of 30 September 1858 with nested envelopes against black — with spare line diagrams of mirrors, cones of light and labelled rays useful as ready-made optical schematics.
