Zinnebeelden, getrokken uit Horatius Flaccus
A Dutch edition of Otto van Veen's Horatian emblem book, with verses by Anthony Janssen, printed in Amsterdam by Justus Danckerts in 1683 for readers who wanted Horace's moral maxims in pictures. The 106 engravings stage allegories in landscapes and classical interiors: winged personifications, Fortune, Time with his scythe, soldiers, sages, and animal attributes, drawn in fine crosshatched line with deep skies and distant towns.
