Zur Farbenlehre
Goethe's Zur Farbenlehre, his 1810 treatise on color published in Tübingen by Cotta, argued against Newton's optics for natural philosophers and painters. The plates pair hand-colored prism diagrams — wide bands of yellow, green, cyan and rose crossing tinted paper, with stacked spectral strips at the edge — with fine black ray-tracing geometry, useful for palette references, diagram motifs and abstract color-band compositions.
