In the main it preserves the old idealistic forms, but they are preserved, as it were, artificially, and are deprived of all indi- viduality and independence: a picture of still beauty… … is luxuriant as in ill. 82, and arranged in small locks as the canon requires. But the elongated ear-lobes are never missing, not even in the best heads.
