Arithmétique Graphique

Arnoux, Gabriel, 1831- · 1906 · 4 pictures

A French mathematical treatise on modular arithmetic and magic squares written by Gabriel Arnoux and published in Paris in 1906 for mathematicians and puzzle-minded specialists. The plates are dense letterpress tables: numbered grids, ruled matrices with paired entries in each cell, columns of digits with overbars, and index lists of powers, useful as ready-made grid structures, numeral textures and page-filling tabular patterns.
