Portland cement sidewalk construction
A 1909 trade manual issued by the Universal Portland Cement Co., written by C. W. Boynton to instruct contractors and municipal engineers in laying concrete sidewalks. Halftone photographs document cracked, heaved, and patched pavement alongside correctly finished walks, giving designers grey-toned fields of aggregate texture, expansion-joint lines, and receding perspective slabs against blank sky.
