Admiranda antiquitatum Herculanensium descripta et illustrata ad annum MDCCL

Gori, Antonio Francesco, 1691-1757 · 1752 · Patavii : [s.n.] · 9 pictures

A Latin antiquarian report on the Herculaneum excavations up to 1750, compiled by the Florentine scholar Antonio Francesco Gori and printed at Padua in 1752 for classicists and collectors of Roman antiquities. The plates here are typographic ornaments printed in solid black: triangular tailpieces of scrolling foliage, scallop-shell crests, a draped female bust and a displayed eagle on a pedestal, usable as stock devices for section breaks, colophons, and small crest-shaped marks.
