American practical navigator: an epitome of navigation and nautical astronomy
Bowditch's American Practical Navigator, revised by George W. Logan and issued by the U.S. Navy Bureau of Equipment in 1914, taught navigation and nautical astronomy to merchant and naval officers. The figures are spare line diagrams: labelled circles, celestial spheres, sight triangles and orbital paths drawn in solid and dashed rule, useful as geometric marks, compass motifs and technical ornament.
