The first book of architecture
An English edition of Palladio's first book of architecture, translated via Pierre Le Muet and enlarged by Godfrey Richards, printed in London in 1733 for builders, joiners and gentleman designers. Line engravings give the five orders in measured elevation and section, with lettered courses, module figures, arcades, pedestals, Ionic volutes and rosette-filled coffers usable as precise ornament outlines.
