The builders of Florence
An architectural history of Florence written by James Wood Brown and published by E.P. Dutton in New York in 1907, aimed at travellers and readers following the city's building trades and monuments. The plates are pen-and-ink views of piazzas, church fronts, antique columns and shop-front facades, built from open hatching and blotted shadow, useful for line-only cityscapes, textured stone and small figures scaled against monuments.
