A French mathematics and astronomy review issued by the Ministère de l'éducation nationale and printed in Paris by Gauthier-Villars from 1870, addressed to academic mathematicians and observatory staff. The pictures here are not diagrams but scans of the volume's marbled endpapers: combed grey-buff grounds crossed by diagonal ribbing, with veined networks of navy, ochre, and red pooling into cell-like shapes usable as tiling grounds, cover papers, or texture overlays.
