Cathedral antiquities
John Britton's Cathedral Antiquities, issued in London from 1814, is a serial antiquarian survey of English cathedrals made for architects, clergy and topographical subscribers, with engraved plates drawn from measured survey. The plates pair line-engraved elevations, sections and plan details of Gothic bays, piers and window tracery with tinted interior perspectives of nave vaults and choir screens, supplying accurate arch profiles, moulding sections and repeatable tracery patterns.
