China, its costume, arts, manufactures, &c. : edited principally from the originals in the cabinet of the late M. Bertin, with observations explanatory, historical, and literary
An English edition of J. B. J. Breton's survey of Chinese costume, trades and manufactures, printed for J. J. Stockdale in London in 1812 and drawn from Chinese originals in Henri Bertin's cabinet, aimed at curious readers and collectors. Small engraved plates show itinerant peddlers with shoulder poles, toy sellers, hobby horses, sedan chairs and cage-and-basket loads, useful for figure silhouettes and tool details.
