City plan for Akron, prepared for Chamber of commerce
A municipal planning report drawn up by landscape architect and city planner John Nolen for the Akron, Ohio Chamber of Commerce in 1919, addressed to local businessmen and civic officials. Line-drawn street plans, grade-crossing and rail-yard diagrams and canal traces alternate with halftone photographs of unpaved streets, level crossings and storefronts, offering designers clean map linework, hand-lettered street labels and early-century civic streetscapes.
