The construction of wrought iron bridges: embracing the practical application of the principles of mechanics to wrought iron girder work

Latham, John Herbert · 1858 · Cambridge : Macmillan · 6 pictures

An 1858 engineering manual by John Herbert Latham, published by Macmillan in Cambridge, setting out the mechanics of wrought iron girder and bridge design for practising engineers and students. The plates are hand-lettered line drawings: sectional elevations of riveted plate girders, rivet-hole layouts at joints, and stress diagrams of bowed and trussed spans, useful as fine-line technical linework, measured annotation, and dimension-arrow detail.
