Elements of chemical physics
A college textbook on matter and heat by Harvard chemist Josiah Parsons Cooke, published in Boston by Little, Brown in 1860 for students of chemical physics. Its 240 wood engravings show laboratory apparatus in sharp outline with hatched shading and lettered parts: mercury columns, glass tubes, burners, balances, and bench-mounted instruments, useful as technical line motifs.
