Houses for town or country
Herbert Croly's 1907 survey of domestic architecture, issued in New York by Duffield & Company for American homeowners, architects and decorators planning town and country houses. The 141 halftone plates show empty rooms, halls, stair landings, terraces and garden fronts in deep tonal contrast, offering beamed ceilings, leaded casements, built-in sideboards and hard raking light across bare floors.
