How to appreciate prints
A 1922 Scribner's handbook on print connoisseurship by Frank Weitenkampf, print curator at the New York Public Library, written to teach collectors and general readers to distinguish etching, engraving, lithography, mezzotint and woodcut. The 32 plates reproduce specimen prints: bridges over water, wooded hillsides, canal towns and crowded city streets, ranging from open line work to dense blacks useful for texture study.
