Maps, their history, characteristics and uses; a handbook for teachers
A 1921 Cambridge University Press handbook by Sir Herbert George Fordham, written to teach schoolteachers the history and reading of maps. Plates reproduce early engraved county and provincial maps — Hertfordshire, Anjou, Cambridgeshire — plus roundel plans of Flanders fortress towns, offering hatched rivers, tiny hill and tree symbols, scale bars, compass roses and lettered cartouches.
