Égypte

Maspero, Gaston Camille Charles, Sir, 1846-1916 · 1911 · Paris : Hachette · 523 pictures

A survey of Egyptian art by the French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero, published in Paris by Hachette in 1911 for the Ars Una handbook series aimed at students and general readers. Its 525 halftone photographs record temple reliefs, painted tomb walls, cartouches and hieroglyphic panels, and standing stone and wood statues, mostly grey and softly lit, useful as sources for incised figure outlines, crowns and regalia, and hieroglyphic sign shapes.
