Nicholson, Peter, 1765-1844, Lomax, Edward, Gunyon, Thomas · 1852 · New York : Johnson, Fry & Co. · 181 pictures

Peter Nicholson's architectural encyclopedia, revised by Edward Lomax and Thomas Gunyon and issued in New York in 1852, served architects, builders, carpenters, masons and students as an alphabetical reference on building science and practice. The plates are engraved geometrical constructions — stair falling-moulds, groin and vault developments, roof framing, joint sections — drawn as fine line diagrams with lettered points and flat grey washes.
