A survey of medieval English monasteries and religious orders by the Benedictine historian Francis Aidan Gasquet, published in London by Methuen in 1904 for general readers and antiquarians. Its plates include full-length standing figures of monks, friars and canons in habits, drawn in fine hatching against plain grounds, plus abbey plans and buildings, useful for costume silhouettes and drapery study.
