The essentials of illustration, a practical guide to the reproduction of drawings & photographs for the use of scientists & others
A 1915 London handbook by botanist Thomas George Hill, published by W. Wesley & Son, teaching scientists how to prepare drawings and photographs for photomechanical reproduction. Its plates are specimen figures — line drawings of orchids and dissections, stippled cell divisions, labelled diagrams — shown to demonstrate hatching, stipple, halftone screens and what survives at reduction.
