Godey's lady's book
A mid-nineteenth-century American monthly magazine for women, issued by Louis A. Godey in Philadelphia, mixing fiction and poetry with fashion plates, needlework patterns and household instruction. The wood engravings show crinoline gowns, bonnets, lace shawls and sleeve details rendered in fine hatching, alongside looping braid and embroidery patterns that work as line ornament, borders or repeat motifs.
