Handbook of drawing
A drawing manual by William Walker, issued in New York by Scribner in 1880 for students and self-taught pupils learning landscape and object drawing from copies. The plates are pen-and-ink exercise figures — cloud banks, foliage masses, tree trunks with lettered keys, scrubby banks — showing hatching and stroke patterns a designer can borrow as texture fills and sky treatments.
