Historic Virginia homes and churches
A 1915 survey of Virginia plantation houses and colonial churches compiled by Robert Alexander Lancaster and published by J. B. Lippincott in Philadelphia and London for antiquarians and genealogists. The 318 halftone photographs show brick and frame houses seen across lawns through screens of mature trees, with porticoes, end chimneys, dependencies and churchyards; useful for silhouettes of Georgian facades, tree-framed compositions and soft sepia halftone texture.
