A topographical picture book of 1886, drawn, published and self-issued by Edwin Whitefield in Reading, Massachusetts, recording surviving colonial houses and historic sites in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont for antiquarians and local historians. The plates are tinted pen lithographs of clapboard and gambrel-roofed dwellings set among trees and rough dooryards, printed in brown ink on buff, useful for house silhouettes, foliage textures and hatched shadow patterns.
