An illustrated reference dictionary of art and archaeology terms compiled by John W. Mollett and published in London by Sampson Low in 1883 for artists, antiquaries and students. The 503 wood-engraved cuts are small, isolated objects on blank grounds — carved capitals, column bases, foliate gable ornament, panelled pedestals, plus arms, pottery and costume — drawn with hatched shading, useful as spot illustrations, ornament motifs and architectural detail vocabulary.
