International studio
Volume of International Studio, the New York edition of the London art magazine, issued from 1897 for collectors, architects and working artists reviewing contemporary painting, design and craft. Plates are coarse-screen halftones of oils and pastels — river cliffs, village paths, figures under trees — reduced to soft grey masses useful as atmospheric backgrounds, vignette textures and tonal studies of foliage.
