International studio
The International Studio, the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, began in 1897 and reported on painting, craft and decoration for artists, collectors and designers. Its plates are halftone reproductions of contemporary paintings and drawings — cattle under trees, a girl on a stone terrace, a bridge in mist, dark interior groups — soft-edged, low-contrast, useful for atmospheric grounds.
