International studio
The International Studio was the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, begun in 1897 and issued monthly to artists, collectors and decorators. Its plates are halftone and photogravure reproductions of contemporary paintings, etchings and drawings dark figure groups out of doors, dappled orchard scenes, theatre boxes alongside pages of furniture, metalwork and ornament, useful for soft-edged tonal backgrounds and period interior detail.
