International studio
International Studio, a monthly art magazine published in New York from 1897 as the American edition of London's The Studio, reporting on painting, printmaking and the decorative arts for artists, collectors and designers. The plates are halftone reproductions of contemporary pictures — misty river valleys, moonlit bridges over water, lamplit interiors with four-poster beds — useful for soft grey tonal washes and dark silhouetted foregrounds.
