International studio
International Studio, the New York edition of the London art monthly The Studio, began in 1897 for artists, collectors and decorative-arts workers on both sides of the Atlantic. Its plates are soft-focus halftones of contemporary paintings and etchings—river cliffs, pine branches against open water, cattle among trees, hillside villages—useful for grey tonal backgrounds, atmospheric landscape stock and period reproduction texture.
