Le Caire, le Nil et Memphis

Migeon, Gaston, 1861-1930 · 1906 · Paris : H. Laurens · 128 pictures

A French art-topographical survey of Cairo, the Nile and Memphis, written by Louvre curator Gaston Migeon and published by H. Laurens in Paris in 1906 for art students and travellers. Halftone photographs record mosque interiors and street facades: carved stucco mihrabs, muqarnas hoods, banded ablaq masonry, Kufic inscription friezes and turned wooden screens, useful as ornament and pattern reference.
