Lettering for draftsmen, engineers and students;
A practical lettering manual by Charles W. Reinhardt, chief draftsman of Engineering News, issued in New York by D. Van Nostrand in 1897 for draftsmen and engineering students. The plates are line drawings used as lettering samples: bridge elevations and sectional plans, a Hudson River borings profile, a station floor plan with joint details, and a Missouri River town-site map, all carrying slanted single-stroke captions, dimension figures, graphic scale bars and compass meridians a designer can lift as technical-drawing type specimens.
