An 1900 French trade and industrial history by Henri Hénon, published in Paris by Belin Frères, tracing machine-made tulle and lace manufacture in the Pas-de-Calais from 1815 to 1900 for manufacturers, buyers and technical readers. Its plates are halftone photographs of lace samples printed white on black: scalloped borders, floral sprigs, rosettes and net grounds that read as high-contrast repeating patterns, usable as borders, textures and stencil-like ornament.
