An 1899 laboratory manual by Simon Henry Gage, published in Ithaca, New York, teaching microscope technique and histological preparation to students and working scientists. Wood-engraved and halftone figures show brass microscopes in three-quarter view, sectioned mechanical stages and objectives, illumination rigs, and diagrams of optical paths, with hatched shading and cast shadows on blank grounds.
