Printing in relation to graphic art
A 1903 essay on printing and design by George French, issued by the Imperial Press in Cleveland for printers, typographers and readers of the trade press. The plates are chiefly decorated initials cut in heavy outline, with interlaced stems, scrolled tendrils and small acorn and leaf buds filling the counters — ready-made drop caps and a vocabulary of knotwork ornament.
