A recording device for indicating (a) the flow of water in pipes, (b) the speed of boats
A 1909 engineering thesis by Frank Boyd Baldwin and Oscar George Hiveley at the University of Illinois, describing a recording device for measuring water flow in pipes and boat speed. The plates are hand-drawn curve sheets on printed graph paper, with plotted points, hand-lettered titles and trial legends, offering ruled grid textures and period draughtsman lettering.
