Scientific American, Vol. 29, No. 26 (December 1873)

1873 · 18 pictures

A weekly American technical and patent journal, published in New York by Munn & Co. in December 1873 for inventors, manufacturers, and mechanics. The wood engravings show machinery and apparatus in three-quarter view and cut-away section "turbine heads, drum-driven mill engines, a fountain sliced open to expose its pipes, and a hand adjusting a graduated measuring bar" all built from dense parallel hatching that reads well at small sizes.
