Some eminent Victorians: personal recollections in the world of art and letters;
Memoirs of the London art and literary world by critic and playwright J. Comyns Carr, published by Duckworth in 1908 for British readers who followed painters, poets and actors of the previous half-century. The plates are halftone reproductions of painted portraits — Tennyson, Rossetti, William Morris, Leighton — dark, soft-edged bearded heads on near-black grounds, useful for high-contrast crops and vignettes.
