Stained glass of the middle ages in England & France
A 1913 survey of medieval stained glass in England and France, written by Hugh Arnold with watercolour copies by Lawrence Saint, published in London by A. & C. Black for students of glass painting and church art. The plates reproduce single lancets and panel fragments in deep reds and blues, with haloed saints and angels, canopy architecture, leading lines and quarry grounds, giving designers ready-made panel layouts, jewel-toned colour schemes and gridded figure borders.
