Stephen Daye and his successors, the establishment of a printing plant in what was formerly British North America and the development of the art of printing at the University Press of Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1639-1921

University Press, Cambridge, Mass · 1921 · Cambridge, Mass. · 14 pictures

A commemorative history of printing in colonial New England and at the University Press of Cambridge, Massachusetts, issued by the press itself in 1921 for printers, collectors and alumni readers. The plates are sepia pen-and-ink views of Georgian brick houses, college halls, wrought-iron gates and leafy quadrangles, drawn in loose hatching with heavy foliage masses — useful as vignette headpieces and monochrome architectural spot art.
