The stones of Venice
John Ruskin's architectural study of Venice, issued in this 1890 Boston edition by the Aldine Book Publishing Co. for general readers of art and building history. The wood-engraved figures are small diagrams in line and dense hatching: arcades on squat columns, lettered sequences of moulding profiles and cornice sections, useful as clean architectural line motifs and comparative figure sets.
