Studio international

1893 · London, Cory, Adams & Mackay [etc.] · 376 pictures

An illustrated art periodical begun in London in 1893 (later The Studio / International Studio), aimed at practising artists, craftworkers and collectors of contemporary painting and applied design. The plates are halftone reproductions of paintings, drawings and decorative schemes — soft-focus grey city views, garden terraces with statuary, and multi-panel mural friezes with lettered borders — useful for muted tonal backgrounds, panel layouts and Arts and Crafts ornament.
