The study and criticism of Italian art

Berenson, Bernard, 1865-1959 · 1902 · London, G. Bell and sons · 43 pictures

Bernard Berenson's collected essays on attributing Italian Renaissance paintings, published in London by G. Bell and Sons in 1902 for connoisseurs, museum curators and collectors. The plates are halftone photographs of panel paintings, frescoes and silverpoint drawings, mostly Madonna and Child groups, nativities and robed standing figures, giving designers soft grey tonal reproductions with damasked backgrounds, halos, arched frames and heavy drapery folds.
