A study of the houses of the American aborigines; with suggestions for the exploration of the ruins in New Mexico, Arizona, the valley of the San Juan, and in Yucatan and Central America, under the auspices of the Archæological institute

Morgan, Lewis Henry, 1818-1881 · 1880 · Cambridge [Mass.] · 33 pictures

Lewis Henry Morgan's 1880 archaeological report for the Archaeological Institute of America, published at Cambridge, Massachusetts, proposing surveys of Pueblo, Ancestral Puebloan, and Maya ruins for scholars and funders of the new institute. Illustrations combine measured plans, sections and elevations of communal dwellings with soft-toned lithographic interiors and reconstructed pueblo blocks rising from mesa edges, giving designers architectural line diagrams, hatched masonry textures and tonal landscape plates.
