Run of Surrey Archaeological Collections, the county society's antiquarian journal issued in London from 1854 for its subscribing members and local historians. The plates reproduce monumental brass rubbings as flat black silhouettes with white incised line — kneeling women in horned and veiled headdresses, a cleric with joined hands, and curling prayer scrolls in blackletter — usable as stencil-like figures, borders and lettering samples.
